Dog Poisons

Recently one of our dog owners had to rush her dog to the hospital.

Turned out that he swallowed a metal knob off of the kitchen cabinet.

Most metal objects are coated but contain "zinc" at their core. Zinc is

toxic to dogs and will kill them within hours to days without treatment.

Her dog remained in critical condition for days. He was operated on to remove the knob

and had to have a blood transfusion to clean some of the zinc toxin out of his

blood.

We are happy to say that Diesel made it through and returned home to the family that loves

him so very much. It was Laurie's quick thinking and knowing that he was not acting quite

right that saved his life.

There are so many things in our homes and outside our homes that are poisonous

to dogs. Please visit our website and download a list of these items. Also the poison

control number can be posted on your fridge. You know your dog best. If he is not

acting his wonderful self, please don't hesitate to get him checked by a veterinarian or

call the poison control number if you have found he as ingested something on the list.
